Privacy Policy

Koineum is built to respect your privacy. It has no accounts, sets no cookies, and collects nothing that identifies you. The little it measures is aggregate and anonymous.

Who we are

Koineum (“we”, “us”) operates this site at koineum.com. For any privacy question or request, write to hello@koineum.com.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. The reader has no sign-up, login, form, or newsletter, so we never ask for your name, email, or any personal detail.

Anonymous analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are read, in aggregate. It is privacy-friendly and cookieless: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, and no profile of you. It does not identify individual visitors.

Your settings. Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser’s local storage (the koineum-theme key). It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Server logs. Our host, Vercel, processes standard request data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver and secure the site. This is transient and operational, not used to track you.

Why we may process this (legal basis)

Under the GDPR, our basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): understanding aggregate usage and keeping the site secure and available. Because we set no non-essential cookies and process no identifying data for analytics, no consent banner is required.

Cookies

We set no cookies. Your theme preference uses local storage, which is not a cookie.

Service providers and sharing

We do not sell or share personal data. We rely on Vercel for hosting and analytics, acting as our processor.

International transfers

Our provider may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, under appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, or portability, and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Romania, the ANSPDCP). Note that because we hold no data that identifies you, we usually cannot link any record to you. For anything else, contact hello@koineum.com.

Children

Koineum is a general-audience reading site and is not directed at children. We knowingly collect no data from anyone.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site grows (for example, when accounts arrive). The “last updated” date above will change when we do.
